LE CHEF CHEZ VOUS!
After the closure of all restaurants, bar’s, café’s, etc in France on 14th March, we had planned to implement a home delivery service from our restaurant in Axat, but we put it on hold after President Macron’s speech on television. However, we have now been contacted by our Maire and encouraged to start the service and are pleased to announce our new service known as LE CHEF CHEZ VOUS!
We have invested over 1.000 € in special equipment so that we have a dedicated heated and chilled delivery system especially for delivering meals to ensure that all food arrives at the correct temperature. We obviously already had very high hygiene standards but whereas previously I always wore a hat and uniform when preparing food, in addition I also now use a mask and gloves at all times.
Deliveries by my hard working wife Val are made with her also wearing gloves, hat, mask and protective clothing. All food delivery boxes are disinfected both prior to and after deliveries have been made. Our kitchen is cleaned seven days a week by the unsung hero of the team, Islida our Portugese professional cleaner who is a fabulous asset to us. Our clients safety is always our number one goal and we wanted to ensure zero transmission of bacteria.
We checked out the new service with the Gendarmerie to make sure that they were happy and after looking at the food delivery standards he was very happy and refreshingly said that “People need something to cheer them up. Bon chance et bon appetit”.
Our menu will be tweeked and refreshed every week and we have kept our prices deliberately very low as this is a time of financial difficulty for everybody.
For starters our tempura prawns with a chilli and honey dip will probably be the number one choice, although there are 10 other selections including Tart au foie gras with apples, Lobster, Soup with locally sourced asparagus served in a bread bowl, Garlic snails in puff pastry, Crab cakes served in their shell, along with several other favourites from our restaurant menu.
Main courses are led by our famous slowly cooked Lamb shanks with garlic and thyme, Quail stuffed with foie gras, Gambas (extra large King prawns) flambéed in pastis, as well as Frango which is a whole chicken for two people cooked Portugese style with piri-piri spices and whole Seabass, completely de-boned, and stuffed with Mediterranean vegetables and thyme and lemon. Yummy! There will be a total of about 10 main courses and as with the starters we will have weekly specials from next week.
Desserts will feature our ever popular Rhubarb and strawberry crumble, apple tart tatin, and more.
We are renowned for our restaurant cheese trolley. Unfortunately is is too difficult to tow behind the car! To celebrate our new service if you order starter main course and dessert you receive a free cheese selection.
Delivery is free (minimum order 40 €, excluding wine). We just request 24 hours notice for orders please.
If you spend 60 € or more on food over the weekends of Friday and Saturday 3rd & 4th and 10th & 11th April we will give you a free bottle of wine.
