Well the Pandemic continues to be a huge problem. While we have had to close we applaud President Macron’s decision to close down restaurants, etc. His early action has saved many lives.
When it first happened we were somewhat taken by surprise. We were full on the Saturday evening that we received the news that we had to close at midnight. Having just spent 700 € at the wholesaler that morning as we were also booked fully on the Sunday the next day, I was somewhat disappointed to say the least.
We are also very sad that a car club that had eaten lunch with us in 2019 had booked three lunches two weeks after we had to close. 5.000 € lost as it was a very large group. That is always going to be a blow to a small business like ours, although they have already promised to re-book after we re-open which is great.
We launched our home delivery service Le Chef Chez Vous! the week after we closed. The first week it was fairly quiet as it was a new service. In the second week word got around a little and it was busier. Now this week it has been flat out. We had to refuse several orders on Friday and Saturday evenings and we are absolutely full today (Sunday) for both lunch and dinner.
The special weekend roast menu is extremely popular and provides a full lunch or dinner including choice of starter, roast main course with all the trimmings and dessert, as well as lovely canapes for 25 € per head.
We have had 100% positive feedback from clients and that is partly down to the special equipment that we purchased for delivery to keep the canapes and salads etc very well chilled at fridge temperatures. Likewise, our heated transport containers keep food piping hot.
Deliveries are free and Val wears hygienic clothing, mask, gloves and hat when taking the meals to our clients . In the kitchen, in addition to my normal chef’s uniform and hat, I also wear gloves and a mask when preparing dishes. Nobody is at present allowed to enter the restaurant and we are working 100% to ensure perfect hygiene security for ourselves and our clients.
We change the menu every week to keep it exciting and we are very appreciative of our many regulars and friends, some of whom have ordered every week.
We include a lovely selection of free canapes with every order and all home deliveries include a gift voucher for a reduction of 10% on restaurant visits after we re-open.
